Eleanor Bimla Schwarz, MD, MS, is Professor in the Division of General Medicine at University of California Davis Medical Center, where she practices both inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine. Dr. Schwarz’s research focuses on improving birth outcomes and women’s health. In particular, she is interested in the provision of contraception and preconception counseling to women who are at risk for adverse birth outcomes because of chronic medical conditions, use of medications that can cause birth defects, or limited access to healthcare. She is also interested in the effects of lactation on maternal health. Dr. Schwarz began writing for NEJM Journal Watch Women's Health in 2011.
