All health professionals go through rigorous training, but each discipline focuses on specific skills and emphasizes unique components of patient care. Moreover, many of our colleagues on the care team have decades of experience in their discipline, be it nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, etc. Yet as residents, there is often a tension between wanting to be knowledgeable and competent individuals while still benefiting from the expertise of others.
