Question special

Hi everyone! I appreciate the points raised about IDWeek and upcoming improvements in managing MDRO infections or staying up to date with the current literature.

While the list of eradicated infections is still relatively short (e.g. smallpox), trainees are rarely seeing typical presentations of vaccine preventable illnesses which points to the success of ID over the years. Looking ahead, what other infections can be eradicated? Is this still a reasonable goal for the field of Infectious Disease?
