Just an observation on this excellent trial. Too often cardiovascular trials report either short term outcomes (hospital or 30 day survival), or, worse, surrogate outcomes such as TIMI grade. We know from discussion from patients that longer term outcomes are what are important to them. Should all cardiovascular trials follow the example of DETOX-AMI and report 1 year survival? Time for a new standard for design and reporting of cardiovascular trials?
