Given the modest results of pharmacotherapy in chronic neuropathic pain, non drug therapy has been increasingly considered. This includes for example transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, non invasive or invasive central neurostimulation techniques (e.g. repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, spinal cord stimulation), physical therapy, psychological treatment... Most of these techniques, except invasive procedures, are safe. However based on systematic reviews and meta-analyses, evidence for their efficacy is generally much lower than that of drug therapy. Except for physical therapy, which is recommended for low back pain, would you recommend non drug therapy in sciatica of other chronic neuropathic pains and for which patients ?
