Are there electives that you would recommend to students regardless of their current interests, either to get exposure to other fields, learn certain skills, or to have an enjoyable experience? There is a "Wilderness Medicine" elective that is popular at Penn and I've spoken to students signing up for rotations not because they relate to their intended specialty but specifically because they will never again have the chance to see that type of medicine first-hand (transplant surgery and addiction medicine, for example). In what ways would you counsel MS4s to think outside of the box with their elective choices?
