Question special

Many of these questions have focused on overall success on rotations, but I remember the first day of each rotation being a bit nerve-wracking. Do you have any specific tips for a student's first day?

Briefly, my approach was to make sure I had touched base with my resident, I knew where to go, and I showed up early. I had a list of tasks for my first day - make sure I asked how to access that specific patient list in the EMR, could print, knew where to put my belongings, knew where the bathroom was, had stocked my white coat, etc. And then I'd try to get a sense for the team dynamic and logistics without being too disruptive the first morning. I was also prepared to be flexible and a little uncertain!

What other advice do you have for the start of a rotation?
