What suggestions do you have for staying engaged on rounds when you're not presenting a patient? Any tips for keeping track of the team's patients who you may not be following directly? This can be especially challenging early in the year when you are less accustomed to long or complex lists of patients.

One tip a friend passed along was to develop a to-do list for each patient on the team. This not only keeps you engaged during the discussion, but also gives you a leg up if your patients aren't active--instead of asking your team "is there anything I can help with?" you can ask, "do you need me to call ultrasound to check on Ms. X's Dopplers?"
