The new Sepsis-3 definitions state: "Sepsis is life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection".
The assessment of the life-threatening organ dysfunction is clinically well defined and understood by providers.
But how about the dysregulated host response to infection?
At the bed-side how do we currently assess that the host response is dysregulated or appropriately regulated to the infection (viral, bacterial, fungal etc) ?
