Question special

Where I trained, there was an attending who described 3 ways in which a consultation might play out: (1) a mutually agreeable plan is formulated and implemented (consult), (2) the primary team follows perhaps some recommendations but not others ("non-sult"), and (3) the primary team does the exact opposite of what the consultant has recommended (insult).

As a consultant, how do you deal with situations where you are making recommendations you feel are in the patient's best interest, but these are not being implemented by the primary team in a timely fashion or at all?
