The idea of the physician-scientist as the triple threat has emerged as a theme in prior CareerCenter Conversations (see link here: and remains an aspiration of many trainees today. What is your ideal breakdown of time spent on clinical duties, teaching, and research in order to keep your laboratory funded and running smoothly? How has your division of time changed throughout your career? I imagine the responses will vary widely based on your field of practice, the size of your laboratory, and your career goals.
