Question special

Incoming interns vary in their level of experience with holding a pager - and for those with less, it can be overwhelming and distracting to have it alarm while on rounds, during procedures, or conversations with patients and their families. Could you describe your thought process for responding to pages? Do you call back immediately, or investigate in the chart before coming up with questions to ask and which decisions to relay in the ensuing conversation? And how did you cut down on nuisance pages?
