I was struck that of the patients recruited: 67.2% were Black, and 65.5% had an annual household income of less than $40,000. In light of these racial and socioeconomic inequities and concurrent mistrust of the medical system, how were the patient advisory boards utilized? Are there lessons learned that can help primary care providers outreach to these vulnerable groups?
