The general consensus from our discussion has been that there needs to be an increase in residency slots. The article starts off with stating that the Institute of Medicine has failed to call for more federal funding of residency slots. Can individual states increase residency slots based on their budget and need for physicians in training? Additionally, what are some underlying reasons why residency slots are not increased?
