Question special

I'm wondering if it is possible to have the research-shown benefits of better patient outcomes with the veneer of empathy, not the true heartfelt human experience we all know well. I ask because I believe that empathy and professionalism shown during difficult times for a patient should be two sides of the same coin, yet I'm not sure it is necessary to have the full emotional experience of empathy in order to meet this goal. What do you think?
