Yesterday, Dr. Lane described a program that she founded that aims to measure women's leadership in academic medicine. She makes an excellent point--"until you measure something, you cannot know how you are doing or if you improve!"
I would like to get our panelists' assessment of the progress we have made on issues related to women in medicine. Are you satisfied with the pace of progress? Over the course of your career, have you observed any significant changes in opportunities and resources for women physicians? Is the number of women in leadership positions a sufficient metric for progress? What further research is necessary?
