First of all, congratulations for your excellent work. I would like to cut into some different aspect of the study; how to recruit a decent number of patients.
A randomized study involving surgical interventions is EXTREMELY challenging in terms not only of ethics but also patient willingness. In other words, if I were a patient, I would not like to be involved in the study as I would probably like to decide what I would take by myself after due consideration of a lot of options, not randomly.
Were there any contrivances that promoted patient willingness to participate in the study? Say, did you cover the treatment costs that had occurred during the study period? How could I convince patients to take part?
