Question special

Thank you for the opportunity to interact through this forum and very nice study!

On average, what was the average time between a patient being referred to the surgeon and the screening telephone interview and/or in-person screening visit? According to Figure 1, roughly 36% of patients were deemed ineligible due to resolution/reduction of symptoms. Did these patients have a shorter duration of symptoms, higher physical functioning, and less disability than those who were ultimately deemed eligible for the study (similar to those in the surgical treatment arm who cancelled surgery for reduction in symptoms)? How do you use this information to determine whether a newly referred patient with chronic radiculopathy should undergo an additional period of clinical observation versus surgical intervention within the next few weeks? If you recommend that patients undergo an additional period of observation before undergoing surgical intervention, how long should this period of observation be?

Thank you again!
