Question normal

I am a pediatrician recently out of residency. I have been taught to ask about the presence of guns in the home in health maintenance visits, but beyond that have not gotten much guidance on how to effectively address the issue. Are there validated tools that can be used in the outpatient setting to aid in screening for those at highest risk of firearm injuries, and any data better understand the most effective ways to communicate with patients and their families about this issue.
Thank you for having this forum on such an important topic.
