Wondering how many people out there sit down and talk specifically with each learner what objectives they have for that rotation? What do y'all discuss?
My own routine includes a brief discussion of:
- Perceived strengths and weaknesses
- Didactic objectives for that month. This might be very theoretical for MS (hyponatremia, or acid-base) vs. completely logistical for interns (come up with a plan on their own and place all the admin orders themselves).
- Wellness objectives (e.g. drink 40 ounces of water per day or workout 3 times a week)
Takes me about 20 mins per learner, but it really makes the rotation smoother and the feedback so much easier and useful. Plus, it gives you something to celebrate every time somebody meets their wellness objective!!
