Hello all! I've been a PGY-2 for a few months now, and I've really enjoyed the teaching moments.
My question is regarding doing teaching on the fly vs more formally, like a quick discussion after PM rounds on a specific topic, such as "let's talk about hyponatremia". Which one is better in your experience?
I noticed my interns specifically are sometimes really busy and sometimes would rather not spend time with learning and would rather just get work done. So in this case, teaching on the fly works well. I noticed most residents in my program prefer to do this over the formal teaching.
But I also feel they'd benefit from the formal sessions, because then I'd go through what thinking process we should undergo when we see that Na of 125, for example.
Lastly, I leave the MKSAP questions and clinical trial articles to the attending. Do you guys do the same?
