Efforts to eradicate infectious disease worldwide have had complete successes (smallpox, rinderpest) and great, but incomplete, successes (polio, rubella), but efforts have often been logistically challenging and biologically infeasible. There have been many unintended consequences as well which challenge the paradigm that eradication of all terrible infectious disease should be our goal.
