The sample size calculation was based on an assumption that rates of symptomatic PE in the control group and intervention group would be ~9% and 0.5% respectively. However, the actual primary outcome rates were closer to 14% in both groups. Why do you think this was? Do you think that including ‘death of any cause’ in the primary outcome led to the study being underpowered?
