I recognise there are limitations and dangers associated with subgroup analysis.

However on page 5 of the paper the article states “Only age and Injury Severity Score were significantly associated with the primary end point.”

Are there subgroups of trauma patients (for example age, severity of illness) that you would still consider need further study as to whether they benefit from prophylactic vena cava filter insertion post trauma?
At our institution we have >1000 trauma patients a year aged over 65 years. This includes patients post motor vehicle accidents, falls (from standing and ladders!). As mentioned in a previous question this elderly group isn’t captured in your study.
