Question special

CASSINI outcome included distal VTE and asymptomatic VTE/PE. While the absolute number of distal LE VTE was relatively low, answers to another question and some guidelines indicate that these events would often not be treated in practice. We also would not necessarily treat asymptomatic events as they would not be detected unless patient underwent screening, which typically would not routinely occur. Can the authors please comment on the rationale behind including these events in the composite outcome and perspective on the application of their inclusion to real-world clinical practice? Do authors anticipate a different conclusion might have been reached if these events were not included/evaluated?
