I really enjoyed this paper because it addresses a seemingly age-old question: can we do better in the treatment of our patients with the choice of crystalloid? The answer appears to be yes, at least with respect to ameliorating the potential of kidney injury in the short term, <30d from admission. In a cancer hospital, there is a special emphasis on prolonging life, often by limiting harm from complications of hospitalization, as life expectancy is often already curtailed in the cancer patient requiring hospitalization.
