    Aurian García González is a fourth year MD/PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she is focused on understanding the evolution of gene regulatory networks. Aurian received a dual Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico, where she graduated with the highest honors. Since moving to Massachusetts, she has been committed to helping recruit and train successfully minorities interested in pursuing careers in science and medicine by collaborating with organizations around the city of Worcester and mentoring high school and undergraduate students. To advance the latter goals, Aurian has participated in health fairs, student panels, networking and mentoring events in conjunction with the Massachusetts Hispanic Medical Association, in which she serves as liaison between that organization and UMass Medical School students. Aurian is interested in becoming a physician-scientist within academia. Her outside interests include theater, dancing and making her grandmother's recipes.
