About the Discussion

@NEJMRes360 Journal Club: Hosted by UCSF Internal Medicine Zuckerberg San Francisco General Primary Care and UCSF Psychiatry Residency Programs; Case Studies in Social Medicine, Structural Iatrogenesis – a 43-year-old man with “Opioid Misuse”

Case Studies in Social Medicine is a new series in NEJM that started in November 2018. We have invited the residents and faculty from the UCSF Internal Medicine Zuckerberg San Francisco General Primary Care and UCSF Psychiatry Residency Programs to engage in a journal club discussion about the recent NEJM article, "Structural Iatrogenesis – a 43-year-old man with "Opioid Misuse," which can be found at https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1811473. The discussion will focus how to evaluate and incorporate key aspects of social medicine into patient care. The authors and editors of this series will be available to weigh in on these important issues, so this is a unique opportunity to discuss both the case and more broadly the issues related to social medicine. Join us with your questions and comments!
