Karen E. Joynt, M.D., M.P.H. is an Associate Physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Assistant Professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Instructor in Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. She recently finished a two-year term serving as Senior Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Planning and Evaluation, Office of Health Policy, United States Department of Health and Human Services.
Erika Linnander serves as the senior technical officer at Yale’s Global Health Leadership Institute. In collaboration with healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers, Ms. Linnander has contributed to the design, implementation, and evaluation of several large-scale programs to translate scientific evidence into practice, with focus on the quality of hospital care for patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI). Most recently, she was responsible for the overall design and implementation of a two-year prospective intervention study to shift organizational culture and improve outcomes for patients with AMI in hospitals across the US (Leadership Saves Lives).
She is a lecturer at the Yale School of Public Health, a member of the Faculty Advisory Board for the Eastern Caribbean Health Outcomes Research Network (ECHORN) and a steering committee member with Yale’s Global Health Justice Partnership. Prior to joining GHLI, Ms. Linnander worked in hospital administration at the Johns Hopkins Health System. Ms. Linnander has researched and facilitated management and leadership development in a variety of hospital and health system settings, including China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Liberia, Malawi, Rwanda, and Tanzania.
Ms. Linnander received her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her MBA from the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business.
