Varun Phadke is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Emory University. He completed his medical training at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, an internship and residency in internal medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY, and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He also completed a two-year NIH-funded fellowship in vaccinology through the Emory Vaccine Center. Dr. Phadke has conducted research in the broad area of maternal immunization, focusing specifically on pertussis and influenza. He is a co-investigator on an ongoing clinical trial of maternal pertussis immunization in Guatemala. His research interests are in maternal and childhood vaccines, with a focus on the impact of pregnancy on the immune response to vaccination.
