Eric P. Winer, M.D., is Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Chief of the Division of Women's Cancers, the Thompson Chair in Breast Cancer Research, and the Chief Clinical Strategy Officer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is the Director of the Breast Oncology Program for the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, and the Program Director, for the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center SPORE in Breast Cancer. Dr. Winer is the 2009 recipient of the A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award from Harvard Medical School. In 2016 he received the William L. McGuire Memorial Lecture Award at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium for significant contributions to breast cancer research, and he was the 2017 recipient of the Gianni Bonadonna Award at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Winer has devoted his professional career to the treatment of individuals with breast cancer and breast cancer research. He has designed and led phase I, II, and III clinical trials. He has collaborated closely throughout his career with basic and translational scientists, health services researchers, and psychosocial researchers. His group at Dana-Farber cares for thousands of individuals with breast cancer each year and has an extensive research portfolio with the goal of extending the lives of individuals with breast cancer and minimizing morbidity from the disease.
