N. Lynn Eckhert, MD, MPH, DrPH, a pediatrician and medical educator, is the Director of Academic Programs at Partners Healthcare International. Prior to this position she served for 27 years at the University of Massachusetts Medical School as Associate Dean of Admissions, Professor and Chairman of Family and Community Medicine and Dean/Vice Chancellor for International and Public Health Programs. Dr Eckhert has served in numerous leadership positions; as Chairman of the Association of American Medical Colleges, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and as President of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine. At the present time she serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
She works extensively in health professions’education around the world in faculty and medical school development and recently as a Fulbright Specialist in Saudi Arabia and as Interim Dean of the Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury Lebanese American University School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. Her recent publications center on medical education around the globe.
One of her most enriching endeavors has been writing a one woman play entitled “A Lady Alone,” bringing to light the life of Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman physician which has been performed throughout the United States.
