Ersilia M. DeFilippis MD is a second-year resident in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a degree in women's studies with specific focus on women's health. She attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. She was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. DeFilippis's prior research has focused on therapeutic approaches and clinical outcomes in inflammatory bowel disease. She also is interested in medical education. She plans to pursue a cardiology fellowship.
Jen Houpy is an internal medicine PGY-1 at the University of Chicago with interests in medical education and pulmonary and critical care medicine. She studied neurobiology as an undergraduate at Harvard College and earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. During her undergraduate and medical studies, her basic science research centered around gap junctions, and teaching was a theme in her extracurricular and professional endeavors. Her medical education research focuses on medical student resilience and interprofessional education. Jen grew up in the Chicago suburbs and, in her free time, enjoys music, movies, and travel.
Michelle Martinchek is a current Fellow in Geriatrics at the University of Chicago. She received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University where she majored in Microbiology as well as Biological Sciences - Interdepartmental for Secondary Education. She then received a Master's in Public Health from the University of Michigan, where she majored in Epidemiology and completed a concentration in Public Health Genetics. She then attended medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago and was a Chief Resident in 2015-2016. She has done work on resiliency and burnout, including the creation of a curriculum for senior residents on resilience. She is also interested in frailty and has done reasearch on pre-operative frailty assessment in thoracic surgery patients.
