The American health care system is changing drastically. Technology, the internet, patient empowerment, new models of care, and new models of healthcare delivery are creating turmoil in the traditional hierarchy. Despite being early in training, medical students are often leading and guiding this change. Many are thought leaders regularly publishing papers and articles, speaking in front of Congress and guiding sections of the American Medical Association, and running NGOs in foreign countries.
